Walter Krupa Obituary

Walter Krupa, 105, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Wadhams Creek Senior Community. Walter was born May 9, 1915 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada, to the late John and Anastazia Krupa. In 1925 Walter moved to Sandwich, Ontario, Canada. In 1926 they moved to New Haven, Michigan. As a boy he worked hard at nearby farms. He managed to save 50 dollars and put it in the bank. Then the depression hit and he lost his money. This was lesson he never forgot. The mid 30’s he went to Highland Park, working in garages fixing cars. He met his wife Elna Kibner there. They were married December 31, 1941. Elna passed away in 1986 after 45 years of marriage. Walter proudly served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 during WW II. He worked as a SSG in Blackpool, England as an electrical repairman in charge of the aircraft hangers. After the war he went to work at Dodge Main in 1946 and retired in 1977. In 2000 he moved to St. Clair Twp. to be close to his family. He loved square dancing, joined many square dance clubs, and traveled all over Michigan and Canada to dance. This kept him very active. He loved working on his many tractors and cars and every year planted a large garden. Walter is survived by his sister, Ann “Betty” Trumble and many nieces and nephews. Also, survived by his niece, Ann (Ken) Laming, who he considered the most important person in his life. Ann was his caregiver for many years. Preceded in death by his three sisters, Mary (Joe) Nodus, Adeline (Julian) Zdral and Roselia (Larry) Schulte, three brothers, William (Lillian & Mary), Nicholas, and Andrew (Gertrude) Krupa.

Walter will be dearly missed after a long and wonderful life.
