James Edward Simons

James Edward Simons, 60, of Columbus Twp., passed away Friday, October 8, 2021 at McLaren Port Huron Hospital. James was born March 15, 1961 to Wesley Sr. and LaDonna Simons in Ohio. Beloved husband of Laurrie Simons; cherished father of Jeremy (Rose Grayvold) Simons and Rachel (Sam Walker) Simons. Also, survived by his brother Wesley (Marilyn) Simons Jr.. Preceded in death by his brother Richard Simons. James was a devoted husband and father always putting his family first. He enjoyed woodworking, bowling, trap shooting, camping and fishing. When he found out he was going to be a father he made cribs for each of his children made out of beautiful maple wood. Jim’s favorite thing to do was go out to eat! Jim was also a dedicated employee of Freeman Mfg. & Supply Co. for 37 years. He retired from Freeman’s in 2016 when he was diagnosed with kidney disease. Jim also made great home-made soups. Jim was a member at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Armada and also a previous member at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church & School in Richmond where his children attended. Jim was a kind and giving man that will be deeply missed by his family. But we give thanks that he is with his Lord & Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Rewalt-Peshek Funeral Home, 68655 Stoecker Lane, Richmond, MI 48062.  Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Service Friday, October 15, 2021 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 22511 W Main St, Armada, MI 48005.
