Gayla McEldery Obituary

GAYLA CEASE McELDERY age 72 of Chesterfield formerly of Richmond died Sunday August 17, 2014 in McLaren Macomb Hospital after a very brief illness. Mrs. McEldery was born June 14, 1942 in Buchanan, MI to the late Glenn and Iona (Gross) Cease. She graduated from Buchanan High School in 1960 and attended Graceland College in Iowa and Kansas State University. She married Claude McEldery in Richmond on October 13, 1984. Gayla was a World Church minister for Community of Christ holding the office of Evangelist/High Priest and a long and faithful member of the Richmond Michigan congregation. She preached in the Flint and northern thumb area. She enjoyed traveling. She is survived by her husband Claude, children; Marc Harris of Roseville, Sean Harris of CA., Jennifer Dickey of Roseville, step-children; Jeffery (Rebecca) McEldery of Grass Lake and Elizabeth (Paul) Ramey of Windsor, siblings; Gordon (Delores) Cease of OH, Marilyn Burns of Kalamazoo and Carol Campbell of Lexington, grandchildren; Alexandra Harris, Jon Dickey and Charlotte Horton and step-grandchildren; Alice and Megan Ramey and Olivia and Anna McEldery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested for the Richmond Community of Christ Church. A memorial service will be on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at 3:00pm in the Wadhams Grove Congregation of Community of Christ, 4902 Lapeer Road, Kimball, MI 48074. Elders Bud Teal and Sally Hager will officiate.
