David Genero Torres Sr.

David Genero Torres Sr., 82, of Columbus Twp., passed away at Medilodge of Richmond on Thursday, June 30, 2022 surrounded by family. David was born May 4, 1940 to the late Epigmenio and Olivia Torres. Beloved husband of Joyce Torres; caring father of Dawn Novak, David (Kimberly) Torres Jr., Dale Torres and Darlene McNichol; cherished grandfather of Jillian (Anthony) Harmer, Jeffrey (Alyssa) Novak Jr., Matthew Torres, Samantha Torres, Michael Torres, Sarah McNichol and Daniel McNichol III; loving brother of Linda McCleary, Michael (Sine) Torres, and James (Lynne) Torres; brother-in-law of Diana Dobrowolski; and treasured uncle to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Torres, sisters, Rochelle Torres and Kathleen Hardin, and brother-in-law’s, Gerald Dobrowolski, Stanley Dobrowolski, and Dale McCleary. David was a devout Catholic, long-time member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2667. He was a hands-on type of guy and was always tinkering with something. He was a former Richmond Chili Cook Off Champ and enjoyed riding his golf cart, doing yard work and watching old western movies. Most of all David was a hard worker who retired from both General Motors and McLaren Hospital, but his most treasured role was being a grandfather.

Visitation will be 3:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at the Rewalt-Peshek Funeral Home, 68655 Stoecker Lane, Richmond, MI 48062. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 68035 Main St, Richmond, MI 48062.
