Ceola Stevenson Obituary

Ceola M. Stevenson, 95, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2021 at Blue Water Hospice Home. She died one month shy of her 96th birthday. She was born July 14, 1925 in the family home in St. Clair, Michigan to Joseph and Mary Lively. She was married to Albert D. Stevenson from 1957 until his passing in 1989. Ceola grew up with many enjoyable memories of time spent with her numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from both the Brown and Lively families. She favored frequent trips to the Brown family farmstead near Merlin, Ontario. Ceola graduated from St. Clair High School in1943 and from Graceland college in Lamoni, IA in 1945. She spent several years working for Chrysler in Marysville, MI. She went through her life without ever learning to drive even though she bought a new car at one point in her life. Ceola had a life-long love for music. She learned to play the violin and piano at an early age. Occasionally, filling in as the church pianist. She was deeply involved at Columbus Bible Church and enjoyed ministering with her church choir and participating in her church’s ladies and senior groups. At her passing she was the oldest and longest serving member of her church. Ceola married Albert Stevenson in 1957 when she moved to the Stevenson farm in Columbus. It was there that she raised her children, Elba, Craig and Debby. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Ruth (Lively) Grice. She is survived by her niece, Sheri (Grice) Overly. She is also survived by her children, Elba (Carol) Stevenson, Craig (Nadine) Stevenson and Debby (Anthony) Placencia. Her many grandchildren which include, Stacy, Bonny, Toni, Angela, Salvador, Jared and Caleb have fond memories of times they spent with her. Along with her great grandchildren, Alexis, Dustin, Jacqueline, Dylan, Anthony, Max, Brianna, Brian, Harmony, Lavon and Brantley. Ceola especially treasured the special occasions when all her adult children accompanied her to church. Her family grieves her passing, but are grateful for the memory of her well spent life.
