Bertha Teska

BERTHA TESKA age 98 a lifelong area resident died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 in her home. Mrs. Teska was born July 17, 1917 in Rusnitz, Germany to the late Herman and Marie (Gutt) Stachel and came to the United States when she was five years old. She married Harold Teska in Richmond on October 25, 1941. Mr. Teska died February 4, 1991. Bertha was a lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ in Richmond and lifetime member of the VFW Post in Richmond. She enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and was known citywide for her beautiful flower gardens. She is survived by her children; Harold and Therese Teska of Richmond, Jane Rose of St. Clair, Barbara Gerschow of Memphis and Sally Teska of Plymouth, Wyoming, Ontario, grandchildren; Jeff Teska, Paula (Bruce) Williams, Lynore (John) Warn, Lisa (Dan) Ryall, Chuck Rose, Fred Gerschow and Kim Gerschow, and great-grandchildren; Nathan, Tessa and Derek Williams, Autumn and Austin Warn, Nicholas and Nicole Gerschow and Melissa and Erin Ryall. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her sons-in-law; Fred Gerschow and Neil Forrest and siblings; Frederick Stachel, Gertrude Alexander, Martha Rettinger, Hanna Wilson, Frieda Fistler and Gretchen Stachel. A funeral service will be on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:00am at First United Church of Christ in Richmond with visiting from 10:30 to 11:00am. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery. Visiting will be Thursday, October 15th from 2:00 to 8:00pm in Rewalt Funeral Home in Richmond. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested for the wishes of the family.
