Shirley Harlan

Shirley Harlan, 72 of Lenox Township died Monday, January 7, 2008 after an extended illness. She was born November 26, 1935 in Providence, Kentucky to the late Lynn and Embry (Moody) Ryan. She married Carlin Harlan in New Haven in August of 1968. He passed away on May 31, 1993. Shirley was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching, and mostly spending time with her family. She is survived by her children: Embry Jacobs of Lenox, Charles Harlan of Mt. Clemens, Stephen Harlan of Lenox, and Stephanie (Keith) Vergeldedios of Armada, siblings: Lynn, Charles, Ralph, John, and Brenda Ryan and Sheila Winarski, and grandchildren: Cameron, Caitlin, Alec, Amanda, Carlyn, Michael, Lindsey, Alexis, Stephen, Jon, Zoie, Emma, Colby, Chase, and Channing. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her sister Clara Gene Bellish. A funeral service will be Thursday at 10:30 in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Rev. Todd Houston, pastor of First Baptist Church of New Baltimore, will officiate. Burial will be in Centennial Cemetery, New Haven. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 and Thursday from 10 to 10:30 in the funeral home. Memorial donation may be directed to the wishes of the family.
