Louise Smith

Louise Alice (Machowski) Smith, 91 of Columbus Twp. went to be with her God and her cherished sisters and brothers on February 5, 2009 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 27, 1917 to the late Lawrence and Frances (Rykala) Machowski in Buffalo, New York and later moved to Smiths Creek, MI. Louise had a wonderful and beautiful life. She enjoyed laughing and gossiping in Polish with her brothers and sisters, working in her beautiful garden, and making delicious meals for everyone to enjoy. She was also an accomplished seamstress, a homemaker and a co-owner of Chic's Roadhouse on Gratiot. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and John Walsh, granddaughters, Jessica and Caitlin Walz, and many dearly loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Frances Machowski, her sisters Catherine Zaborowski, Stella Kulczynski, Helen Walczak, and Josephine Obrzut, and brothers Julius Machowski, Edward (Reds) Machowski, and Floyd Mach. The family would like to thank Hospice of St. John's Hospital for all their support and kindness throughout the past year. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Parish for a Mass or to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit. A funeral Mass will be said Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 11:00 am in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Columbus Twp. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Richmond. Visitation will be Monday from 3 to 8 in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. A Rosary will be said Monday at 7:00 pm.
