JOHN "JACK" KEEGAN age 71, a lifelong resident of Emmett died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in his home after an extended illness. Mr. Keegan was born May 4, 1941 in Yale, MI. to the late Joseph and Madeline (Kennedy) Keegan. He graduated from St. Stephen High School in Port Huron in 1959, attended Port Huron Community College and was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Jack was the owner of the former "Keegan's Steak House" and "Keegan's Catering" in Emmett for many years. His passion for politics found him running for the St. Clair County Sherriff's position in 1988. He was a former member of the Emmett Fire Department, Emmett Lions Club and the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Knights of Columbus. In 1981 he had the honor of being the Grand Marshall of the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Port Huron. Along with traveling, he enjoyed gardening and watching the wild life on his property. He is survived by his brother; Jerry (Judy) Keegan of Emmett, sisters; Joann (Jack) Haley of Shelby Township and Barbara (Michael) Sullivan of Farmington Hills and nieces and nephews; Michael (Stephanie) Sullivan of Novi, Joseph (Eileen) Sullivan of San Jose, CA., Bridgid (Jeff) DelCarmen of Gurnee, IL. and Barbara Sullivan of Seattle, WA.. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his niece and nephew; Kelley and Brian Keegan. A funeral service will be on Monday, September 3, 2012 at 9:30am in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Reverend Philip Ching will officiate. Visiting will be Saturday from 5 to 8pm, Sunday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Pallottine Fathers, 3352 4th Street, Wyandotte, MI. 48192.
