Joan Israel

JOAN MARGARET ISRAEL age 64, of Columbus Township died Monday, March 26, 2007 in Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Israel was born April 14, 1942 in Detroit to the late Francis and Annabelle (Ward) Schomburg. Joan graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1960 and went on to attend St. Clair County Community College where she earned her nursing degree. She worked in the home health care system and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond. She enjoyed sewing, music and caring for people. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Joan is survived by her children, Arthur and Wanda Israel of Marine City, Frank Israel of Goodells, Bernie and Missy Israel of St. Clair, Margaret and Keith Brumley of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Joanne and Richard Burke of Chesterfield, siblings, Joseph and Sharon Schomburg of Romulus, Marilyn and Dick Gramer of Clawson, Mary and Michael Haverty of Richmond and Josephine and Harold Schneider of St. Clair, dear friends Bern and Kathi Israel of Eastpointe, and thirteen grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be on Friday, March 30, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Augustine Church. Reverend Joseph Plawecki will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Visiting will be Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m. in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the church. A scripture service will be on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
