James Potrykus

James Potrykus, age 82, of Lenox died Friday, February 22, 2013 in McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens. Mr. Potrykus was born August 5, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Joseph and Mae Potrykus. He married Louise E. Schroeder in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Mt. Clemens on September 2, 1950. He served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean War. James drove truck for twenty-five years for the R.L. Golder Trucking Company in Marine City. He enjoyed cutting the grass and maintaining the soccer fields behind his home for the past ten years. He was devoted family man. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Louise; two sons, Ronald and Beverly of Richmond and Alfred and Theresa of New Haven; four grandchildren, Jamie, Jason, Justin and Joseph and three great grandchildren, Laya, Caleb and Ethan and a brother, Delbert of Marlette, Michigan. He was preceded in death by a son, James John on September 16, 2012; three brothers, Joseph, Milton, Melvin and Vern and two sisters, Lucille and Marilyn. Family services will be held at a later date.
