The family of Darren Carl Phillips of Richmond, MI, is saddened to announce his passing on June 23, 2025, at the age of 56. He was born on December 21, 1968, in St. Clair, Michigan to parents Carl W. Phillips, Jr. and Judith A. Phillips (nee’ Wagner). Darren graduated from Richmond High School in 1987 and studied at Central Michigan University. He worked at the Richmond Forest Golf Course and later at the Marysville Ethanol Plant. Darren was sharp-witted, kind and intelligent. He liked watching sports and especially loved the Detroit Red Wings hockey team. He played golf and was a fan of the University of Michigan basketball and football teams (despite the rest of his family rooting for Michigan State). He developed a love for playing video games when the family got their first game system – Pong – in the mid-1970s. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy and working on jigsaw puzzles with his family. As a kid, he put together impressive 3D puzzles, Star Wars Lego creations, and models of the monsters he saw in movies hosted by Sir Graves Ghastly on TV. Darren is survived by his parents, Carl and Judy Phillips; sister Amy Phillips (Michael) Ooten; brother Brent Phillips (Kelly Zidar); and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
