Carl Michael Merecki, Sr. age 94 of North Street, formerly of Richmond, Michigan passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 22, 2016 with the love of his family. Mr. Merecki had one brother (Edmond) and two sisters (Lillian and Gertrude). He was born on April 30, 1922 in Detroit to the late Michael and Josephine (Matyanowski). Carl graduated from Denby High School in Detroit in 1941. He was a Veteran of WWII in the European Theater (Italy) as a Tech Sergeant/Radio Operator in a B-24 Liberator (S/H Mouse Esquire). He was awarded the Purple Heart in the service of his country. He married the late Aurora Marie Lopez in Detroit on September 2, 1950. Carl was retired from Pitney Bowes, owned and operated Kris Motors and was an associate broker with Country Real Estate in Richmond which is owned and operated by his son, Carl Jr. He was a member of the Macomb County Board of Realtors. He loved to fish with his family and friends, never shied away from a good game of pool and was an avid golfer. He is survived by his children; Susan (Lorne) Tait of Port Huron, Laurie (Thomas) Murray of Rochester, Julie (William) Hagen of West Bloomfield, Carl (Deborah) Merecki of North Street, R. Peter Merecki of Waterford and Kristin (John) Evangelista of Ann Arbor, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be 6:00 p.m. with a visitation from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service, Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Rewalt-Peshek Funeral Home, 68655 Stoecker Lane, Richmond 48062. Pastor Suzy Hutchison will be officiating. Donations may be made to the Red Cross of America.
