Betty J. Newell

BETTY JANE NEWELL age 90, a lifelong resident of Richmond died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in McLaren Macomb Hospital. Ms. Newell was born April 7, 1924 in St. Clair, Michigan to the late Lindsay and Marion (Beattie) Newell. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1943 and worked in the banking business for forty years where she served as assistant vice president of the National Bank of Richmond. She was a life member of the First United Methodist Church in Richmond and the Etta Zeta Phi Sorority. Betty was an ambassador for the Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed bowling and attending the Richmond Township Seniors functions. She is survived by her sister, Sue Ellen Lutz of Richmond and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings; Margaret (Peggy) Hebel and Robert Newell, brother-on-law, Robert Lutz and sister-in-law, Helen Newell. A funeral service will be on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 11:30am in the First United Methodist Church. Reverend Tom Keef, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery. Visiting will be Thursday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Friday from 11:00 to 11:30am in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family or the First United Methodist Church.
