BARBARA ANN ROWLEY SMITH 54, a lifelong resident of Richmond died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 in Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center after a long illness. Barbara was born August 28, 1953 in Mount Clemens to the late Wm. Arthur and Arleen (Hartway) Rowley. She married John "JW" Smith in Richmond on March 8, 1980. Barbara graduated from Richmond High School in 1971 and Albion College in 1975. She was an elementary teacher in Armada since 1976, currently for the fifth grade at Orville Krause Elementary School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richmond, Richmond Community Choir, Richmond Community Theater, Richmond Historical Society, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and was the first Macomb County Farm Bureau Queen. She is survived by her husband, JW, step-sons, Stephan Smith of St. Clair Shores, Nicholas Smith of Clinton Township, siblings, William (Janice) Rowley, Robert (MaryAnn) Rowley, Christine (Thomas Hebel) Rowley, sister-in-law, Alane Rowley all of Richmond, thirteen nieces and nephews and twelve great-nieces and nephews and many special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Rowley in 2001. A memorial service will be on Saturday at10:30 am in the First United Methodist Church. Reverend Trevor Herm will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Richmond Mausoleum. Visiting will be on Friday from 3 to 8:00 pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond Saturday from 10 to 10:30am in the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Orville Krause Elementary Library, Richmond Community Choir or the Methodist Church.
