Sophia Vandamme

SOPHIA M. VanDAMME age 88, a lifelong resident of Lenox Township died Thursday, March 27, 2008 in Henry Ford Macomb Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. VanDamme was born March 7, 1920 in Detroit. She married Aloise VanDamme in Richmond. Mr. VanDamme died August 26, 1978. Sophia was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and served with the Altar Soldality. She formerly worked as a nurse's aide at Mount Clemens Hospital and enjoyed bowling and shopping. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, David of Columbus Twp and Thomas and Monica of Fraser, sister, Anna Burczycki of Richmond, grandchildren, Paul (Alexis), Christopher (Becky), David (Theresa) VanDamme, Vicki (Mark) Prebee and Julie (Robert) Timm, step-grandchildren, Amy Raymo and Aaron Franks, seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by four sisters and her daughter-in-law, Dolores VanDamme on October 9, 1988. A funeral Mass will be Monday, March 31st at 10:00am in St. Augustine Church. Monsignor George Browne will officiate. Burial will be in Richards Cemetery, Richmond Township. Visiting will be Sunday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Monday from 9:30 to 10:00am in the church.
