Rosalie Waugh Obituary

Rosalie Stella Waugh aged 80, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 after a courageous battle with sepsis. Rosalie was born on February 29, 1940. She was a strong woman and a force to be reckoned with. She defied all of the odds of the rural environment that she grew up in by becoming the first person in her family to go on become an English and drama teacher as well as earning her Master's Degree. She taught for 32 years and was a positive influence on many of her respected students. Rosalie or Rose to those the knew and loved her was resilient, intelligent, fashionable, confident, caring, compassionate, and had a keen sense of humor. Rose had the wisdom to get through the difficult times throughout during her life yet was always able to remain strong and optimistic. Rose had many wonderful qualities. She was a loyal, caring, and loving mother who always wanted the best for her children. She was a naturally curious individual, and always had a strong thirst for knowledge. She had a variety of interests from news, politics, books and literature, movies, travel, cooking and music. Rose was a woman far ahead of her time, who refused to settle for what other young women in the rural area she grew up in would have. As Rose did not get married and have children until she was well over 40 years old, she followed her own dreams and enjoyed many years of travel, pursuing her passions, and spending quality time with her beloved family and friends. Everyone who knew Rose, knew of her overwhelming generosity and eagerness to make people feel welcome and cared for. A mother is with us always, first in her lifetime, then forever in our memory. May you rest in peace, our beloved mother, aunt, and sister. Rosalie is survived by her daughter Jamie Waugh (Marc Senger) her granddaughter Greyhound Doodad, daughter Allison, siblings David and Evelyn Lopatkiewicz, sister Kathleen Dodge (Richard Dodge), niece Samantha Dubay (Nathaniel Dubay) and niece Elise. Rose was proceeded in death by her father (Walter Lopatkiewicz) and her mother Stella Lopatkiewicz.
Rose will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered, and will forever remain in our hearts.
