Karl J. Merritt

KARL JOHN MERRITT age 59 died unexpectedly in his home on Thursday, December 25, 2014. Karl was born November 7, 1955 in Grosse Pointe, MI to the late John and Ruth (Heine) Merritt. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1973 and earned his Bachelor of Engineering Degree from Lawrence Tech. He worked as a project engineer for Jered Brown Brothers Engineering. Karl attended the Community Baptist Church in Richmond and enjoyed farming and tinkering. He is survived by his siblings; Patricia (Jerry) Cameron of Presque Isle, Thomas (Elaine) Merritt of Riverdale, CA, Jacquelyn (Larry) Schroeder of Richmond, Elizabeth (Daniel) Klann of Waterloo, IA, Janis Merritt of Eastpointe, Melissa (Scott) Kulman of Richmond and Stephen (Tracy) Merritt of Clinton Township, brother-in-law; Thomas Traub of Richmond and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters; Miriam Traub and Kathleen Merritt. A funeral service will be on Monday, December 29th at 11:00am at the Community Baptist Church. Reverend Bryan Wise, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Christian Memorial Cultural Center in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Visiting will be Sunday from 3 to 7pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Monday from 10 to 11am in the church. Memorial contributions are suggested for the church.
