Edwin Holman Holmberg Jr., 91, of Richmond went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, February 1, 2017. Edwin was born to Frances and Edwin Holmberg Sr. April 30, 1925 in Detroit Michigan. He grew up on the east side of Detroit and moved to Richmond eighty years ago. Survived by his special friends Stephen (Lori) Wingert, Carm (Ann) Arcieri, Tina Mifflin and his cousin Carol (Richard) Martin. Preceded in death by Robert Mifflin. Ed was a faculty professor at Wayne State University School of Social Work for over 15 years. He was a family therapist and active for twenty years in the Association of Christian therapists. Ed taught kindergarten thru twelfth grade in Grosse Pointe. He was a member of the American Legion and the Richmond Area Historical and Genealogical Society. Ed was a lifetime member of the National Guild of Organists and played in churches all over the world. Edwin was a long time member of St Augustine parish and served in various leadership roles. Ed felt blessed to bring communion to the homebound and loved to sing in the choir. During WWII, Ed served as a Navy Chaplain's assistant. Visitation will be 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary/Scripture Service at 6:30 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Rewalt-Peshek Funeral Home, 68655 Stoecker Lane, Richmond 48062. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 68035 Main St., Richmond 48062.
