Edward Stachura
September 19, 1943 — June 3, 2008
EDWARD J. STACHURA, 64 of Richmond died unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. Mr. Stachura was born September 19, 1943 in Detroit to the late Bronislaw "Bruno" and Wanda (Zioncheck) Stachura. He graduated from Osborn High School in 1962, Ferris State University in 1970, and received his master's degree from Saginaw Valley. He married Georgia Captain in Mt. Clemens on June 22, 1968. Ed taught school for the Department of Defense overseas school program at the Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan, the Yale school district, Detroit school system and then retiring in 2006 from the Memphis School district after thirty years service. He was a member of the Buck and Brush Hunt Club in Reed City, Wooden Canoe Heritage Association, Richmond Sportsmen's club, Theta Xi fraternity and St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richmond where he served with the youth group. As a father and educator, Ed strongly believed and tried to uphold the rights of children's education and instill the value of protecting our environment and the good of our country. He is survived by his wife Georgia, children, Edward Stachura II of Almont, Kimberly and Richard Dawe of Grant Twp., siblings, Jan (Mary) Stachura of Marine City, Dana Barrett of Macomb Twp. and Christine Peterson of Leonard and granddaughters, Allison Hebel and Elizabeth Dawe. A funeral service will be on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 11:00am in St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Reverends Gerhardt Doroh and Steven Helms will officiate. Visiting will be on Thursday from 6 to 8pm and Friday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Saturday from 10:30 to 11:00am in the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be shared with the St. Peter's youth group, the Holy Redeemer youth group, and the Memphis High School Scholarship Fund.
